Friday dreaming and scheming

 

So I have a wedding of one of the bestie's coming up the 1st week end of November. I was over the moon when I read the dress code is VINTAGE FORMAL. The most favorite dress code of this bearded lady.

Being a vintage girl I have a rather large collection of vintage  from hand stitched 1940's to crimplene 60 large print dresses - so outfit choice should be easy right? Well sadly no.

All the vino imbibing (most of it with R.Brown) has left me far from a flat tomboyish tum & peach tight arse. So back to the wardrobe drawing board. Do I make something up? Or do I buy? A lengthy Google search for vintage Chanel, then Dior, Westwood, De La Renta, (you get the general idea) the decision is to perhaps buy a rare vintage dress.

Every time I think I've whittle down the choices, enter a few  more...
Choice will have to be made according to wallet.

Oliver Tambo is a South African icon. Someone who's life inspired millions. And now we can add a fashion inspiration...he is my new gog inspiration. He really knew how to rock a pair of gogs!
Maybe I'll find my frames now if I ask for Oliver Tambo looking frames...

It's a South African site with really great books at VERY reasonable prices. And they send you mails whenever their is a price change on anything on your Wish List. I like this feature of this site, but sometimes it acts as a annoying reminder of what I can't afford, yet. Sigh.

World Kindness Day

Yes, can you believe that there is a World Kindness Day? My kind friend Cyndi, who has a lion act at the Dog And Pony, has just informed me of this. About 15 Countries and various companies have joined and they are doing all sorts random acts of Kindness all over the show.

Honeybunny happy news

This little bit of happiness flickered off 19h00 news last night. So I thought "what a jolly thing to get involved in". 

Mary Honeybun is a duckie from Noordhoek, Cape Town,  who founded & organizes the charity  'Bread Tags for Wheelchairs'.

It's a project through which people collect those pesky plastic tags found on top bread bags, to raise funds for this charity project. Dosh from the recycling goes towards buying wheelchairs for the less fortunate.

 

The amount of bread tags collected for a new wheelchair varies, but we are aiming for 800 000 – 1 million which equates to the value of a basic wheelchair. That’s 270 kg of breadtags.

Currently Mary Honeybun has joined forces with Polystyrene Packaging Council of SA, an NPO.

To Date Ms. Honeybun has helped sponsor 29 wheelchairs. Not even several new hips can stop this lady it seems

So if you'd like to help folks become mobile and gain their independence here is what YOU can do: 

• Collect bread tags from family, friends, colleagues and neighbours

• If you're in the Noordhoek area you can drop them in one of the collection boxes at Noordhoek Farm Village. 

• You can also post your bread tags to PO Box 215, Noordhoek, 7979 or call her on 

021 789 1831

Makiwa Mutomba is a Zimbabwean artist living in South Africa. He paints using his palette knife only.

He went on a trip to India recently came back and painted all fifty plus canvases in 6 weeks. The guy knows beauty. He is exhibiting at the KZNSA Gallery with Conrad Botes.
