Conrad Botes

So Conrad Botes is one of my favorite South African artists. Hek, he is just one of my favorite artists. He is Anton Kannemeyer's partner in Bittercomix. So imagine my utter delight when I heard that we, here at the Final Outpost that is Durban, were going to be graced with an Botes exhibition.

Teus 12th was opening night (Yes sorry am late with reporting on this but some of us work at a Dog & Pony show - animals to tame).
Invited the lovely Kimi to join me. Grabbed the ol' camera, bought some delicious wine, nearly choked on the wine when I realized Botes was actually there (this  may be due to me having a little crush on the guy), all in all it was a TREAT.

It's the first exhibition that he has had a cross section of all the different mediums he uses. Mural, sculpture, photography & drawings and his signature paintings on glass. It is basically a little retrospective of his work. This guy is a genius and I can't stress how much I enjoy his work.

He is also part of the Peekaboo SA art exhibition in Helsinki, with Kannemeyer, Penny Siopis and other greats showing the world what we are made of. Peekaboo has been running since August and will be ending in January 2011.
He has also exhibited at the Biennial in Australia, lots of other countries but most importantly CUBA! How many artists can say that? Ooo,hmmm, rum.

So the only thing I can seriously fault Conrad Botes on is him being married.

Here are the 1st lot of photo's I took on the night. More to follow.
