My handmade cards
These two I made today for some carnie's leaving the Dog & Pony show today. In fact 5 of them are scampering off. But I digress, I was show and telling, so here with the cards. More to follow at some point.

Love and Hate
Black Koki is a clever little fellow. An illustrator, street artist and designer he makes up half of the duo that is Love and Hate Studio in Cape Town. He has curated some fabuloos shows, exhibited intensively both in South Africa and internationally & published numerous zines and cations. And more importantly he isn't afraid to try a new brand of whiskey either.

A short list of things that make me cry
*Waking up and realizing I have to face another day at the Dog & Pony show
* Working at the Dog and Pony show
* A sloppy, boring drunk
* Working with a sloppy, boring drunk
*People trying to save my soul. Saving it for what?
* People spewing new age ‘wisdom’ such as: you are your thoughts. If this is true, I’m a giant penis.
* Being arse raped by a Nicotine Monster.
I'm back at the Dog and Pony show
So here with some nostalgic reminders of those Carnie folks that came before me.
And then I find this Dutch Circus Museum website

Raap is not a Skaap
Last week, the lovely and crazy friend that is Michelle Raap got confirmation that her illustration has been accepted into the next issue of ‘i-Jusi’ magazine. Her artwork will be featured alongside other great South African artists like Anton Kannemeyer, Roger Ballam and Richard Hart. Tooooooo tooototoooo toto toooo – the sound of the vuvuzela that lives in my head.
For those not in the know, I-Jusi magazine is a South African art / design magazine started by Garth Walker from Juice design and now Mister Walker Design.
Click here for link to the website: with a lovely SA flavour: http://www.ijusi.co.za/
Now, not only has the Raapster landed herself in the up and coming issue of i-Jusi, she has also had another of her illustrations featured SA’s pop cultural mag ‘ One Small Seed’. Good beginnings I’d say.
Raap works with me at the Dog and Pony show, and it’s been a tumultuous ride for her what with untrained animals and developing a fear for heights. Slowly she is getting over the vertigo and is leaving the show & doing the thing she knows best, the crazy thing called art. Sigh and pause for a proud Mum moment here. Let’s hope she doesn’t lose an ear out there.
Good Luck Raap.
More on Raap artwork soon!
